get.\u00a0 Some people get 18.\u00a0 I get 22.\u00a0 (This list is taken from Wickipedia, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Enumerated_powers\"> http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Enumerated_powers<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution lists the powers as:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><strong><em>Section 8:<\/em><\/strong><em> The Congress shall have power<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>1.\u00a0 To collect taxes, etc.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Taxing_and_Spending_Clause\"> lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defence and general welfare<\/a> of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>2.\u00a0 To borrow money.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/United_States_public_debt\"> borrow money on the credit of the United States<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>3.\u00a0 To regulate commerce that is not intrastate.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Commerce_Clause\">regulate commerce with foreign nations<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Dormant_Commerce_Clause\"> among the several states, and with the Indian tribes<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>4.\u00a0 To establish rules of naturalization.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To establish a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/United_States_nationality_law\"> uniform rule of naturalization<\/a>, <\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>5.\u00a0 To establish laws regarding bankruptcies.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>and uniform laws on the subject of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Bankruptcy_in_the_United_States\"> bankruptcies<\/a> throughout the United States;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>6.\u00a0 To coin money.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/United_States_Mint\">coin money<\/a>, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, <\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>7.\u00a0 To fix standards of weights and measures.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>and fix the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/National_Institute_of_Standards_and_Technology\"> standard of weights and measures<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>8.\u00a0 To punish counterfeiters.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To provide for the punishment of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Counterfeiting\"> counterfeiting<\/a> the securities and current coin of the United States;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>9.\u00a0 To establish post offices, and post roads.\u00a0 (This could be two separate points.)<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To establish <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/United_States_Postal_Service\"> post offices<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Post_roads\">post roads<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>10.\u00a0 To protect through copyright and patent laws, the inventions and creative property of citizens.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Copyright_Clause\">promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>11.\u00a0 To create lower federal courts.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To constitute <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Article_I_tribunals\"> tribunals inferior<\/a> to the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States\"> Supreme Court<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>12.\u00a0 To punish piracy on the high seas.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To define and punish <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Piracy\">piracies<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Felony\">felonies<\/a> committed on the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/International_waters\">high seas<\/a>, and offenses against the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Public_international_law\">law of nations<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>13.\u00a0 To declare war.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Declaration_of_war\">declare war<\/a>, <\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>14.\u00a0 To grant letters of marque and reprisal (in lieu of war).<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>grant <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Letter_of_marque\">letters of marque and reprisal<\/a>, <\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>15.\u00a0 To make rules concerning captures on land and water.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>and make <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Prize_court\">rules concerning captures on land and water<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>16.\u00a0 To raise and support an Army, up to two years.\u00a0 (NO STANDING ARMY!)<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To raise and support <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/United_States_Army\">armies<\/a> , but no <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Appropriation_bill\"> appropriation<\/a> of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>17.\u00a0 To provide and maintain a standing Navy (and by extrapolation, we may concede an Air Force and a Space Force).<br \/>\n<em>To provide and maintain a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/United_States_Navy\">navy<\/a> ;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>18.\u00a0 To make the rules for all military forces.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To make rules for the government and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Uniform_Code_of_Military_Justice\"> regulation of the land and naval forces<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>19.\u00a0 To call forth the militia, and provide for it.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To provide for calling forth <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/National_Guard_of_the_United_States\"> the militia<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Insurrection_Act\">execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions<\/a>;<\/em><\/dd>\n<dd><em>To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>20.\u00a0 To govern the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To exercise <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/District_of_Columbia_home_rule\"> exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever<\/a>, over such <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Federal_district\">District<\/a> (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, <\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>21.\u00a0 To maintain forts, arsenals, dockyards, etc., for military purposes.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be, for the erection of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Fort\">forts<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Magazine_%28artillery%29\"> magazines<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Arsenal\">arsenals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Shipyard\">dockyards<\/a>, and other needful buildings;\u00adAnd<\/em><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>22.\u00a0 To enact all laws necessary to do all the above.\u00a0 And nothing else.\u00a0 (See 9th and 10th Articles of the Bill of Rights.)<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><em>To make all laws which shall be <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\/wiki\/Necessary_and_Proper_Clause\"> necessary and proper<\/a> for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>If your congressman (representative or senator) votes for anything else, anything not on this list, then he\/she is derelict of duty, and is disobedient, not only to you, but to his\/her oath of allegiance to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and it&#8217;s time to bring them home.\u00a0 ONE VOTE for anything not on this list, and they&#8217;re fired!!!<\/p>\n<p>The Founders could not overemphasize this.\u00a0 They said it twice in the Bill of Rights.<\/p>\n<p>9th Article, Bill of Rights:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Vladimir Script; font-size: x-large;\"><strong>The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span>10th Article, Bill of Rights:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Vladimir Script; font-size: large;\"><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/span><strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Vladimir Script; font-size: x-large;\">The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.&#8221;
