{"id":650,"date":"2018-04-28T17:35:43","date_gmt":"2018-04-28T22:35:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/independentconservativevoters.com\/icv\/?p=650"},"modified":"2018-04-28T17:36:25","modified_gmt":"2018-04-28T22:36:25","slug":"its-not-over-until-its-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/independentconservativevoters.com\/icv\/2018\/04\/its-not-over-until-its-over.html","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s Not Over Until It\u2019s Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1787 our Founding Fathers held a Constitutional Convention in which they designed a constitution and presented it to the States for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Several States made it clear that they would not even debate the question without some restrictions placed upon the proposed Federal government.\u00a0 A total of 39 proposed amendments were debated.\u00a0 Some were rejected, other combined and massaged until they were reduced in number, and from that came a proposed Bill of Rights, containing <u>twelve<\/u> Articles of Amendment.\u00a0 By 1790, ten of those Amendments were ratified by the States, and the Constitution became the Law of the Land.<\/p>\n<p>There are those today calling for a second Article V Convention.\u00a0 What they may not have considered is this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The original Constitutional Convention placed twelve articles of amendment to the Constitution on the table for the States to ratify;<\/li>\n<li>Motions that have been \u201cplaced on the table\u201d constitute unfinished business until they have been voted up or down;<\/li>\n<li>Therefore, the first Constitutional Convention has not yet ended, but is still in session, however currently not in session!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In 1982 a student at the University of Texas was researching this topic.\u00a0 To shorten the story, he got one state legislature after another to \u201ctake from the table\u201d a \u201cmotion to ratify\u201d the Constitution, as a matter of taking up \u201cold business.\u201d\u00a0 As soon as the State of Maine took up the debate, technically, that Constitutional Convention was <u>back in session!<\/u>\u00a0 (It matters not that the original members were all passed away \u2013 the institution lives, as do its laws and its official business.)\u00a0 Maine ratified in 1983.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0 By 1992 that proposed change \u2013 the Original Second Amendment \u2013 was passed overwhelmingly and became the 27<sup>th<\/sup> Amendment to the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of parliamentary procedure, only ONE MORE item of business remains \u201con the table.\u201d\u00a0 That is the Original First Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as ONE State legislature entertains the motion ratify, the First Constitutional Convention will be reopened for dealing with unfinished business.<\/p>\n<p>YOU and I have the opportunity to become active participants in the Constitutional Convention of 1787!\u00a0 We will be joining with the Founding Fathers in completing the task!\u00a0 Nothing in the history of this country is more cool than that!<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever had someone hand you a copy of the Declaration and urge you to sign it?\u00a0 That\u2019s cool, but it\u2019s purely symbolic.\u00a0 <u>This is real.<\/u>\u00a0 You and I have the privilege to sign on to, to participate in the implementation of the legal business of the Constitutional Convention of 1787!<\/p>\n<p>How exciting is that?<\/p>\n<p>If you want to be involved in restoring the Republic, you can find more information at <a href=\"http:\/\/tacticalcivics.southcentralus.cloudapp.azure.com\">http:\/\/tacticalcivics.southcentralus.cloudapp.azure.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Twenty-seventh_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#Historical_background\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Twenty-seventh_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#Historical_background<\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-count=\"vertical\" data-url=\"https:\/\/independentconservativevoters.com\/icv\/2018\/04\/its-not-over-until-its-over.html\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1787 our Founding Fathers held a Constitutional Convention in which they designed a constitution and presented it to the States for adoption.
